Inspiring employees to

PERFORM

This type of writing is formal but has human interest flair to motivate people. It was used to address staff attrition in a corporation of about 200 employees. Getting everyone on the same page is hard enough to still have to deal with self-interest, so we strategically chose to inspire staff into using the organization as a platform to advance their own personal goals.

It got many compliments from the staff. They felt their employment was put into perspective by the document and found it created clarity in managing their careers.

The piece later evolved into a rules of engagement which governed meetings and other collaborative efforts between departments in the corporate. I think it was valuable mostly because of the simple straight-talking style. It shows that honest communications always works out best.
