The 5 Cent Rant

‘Newsy’ articles are structured by importance but this article has no facts, only opinions. To make it work I adapted the structure to fit the general fiction form. I figured that, as a nobody on the political landscape, I could win the hardcore readers of The Thinker by the emotional punch that fiction afforded. If you haven’t read The Thinker, readers and writers for the magazine are politicians themselves so I was surprised this got published in the first place. Afterwards I got some feedback. A friend of mine read it in the magazine and hated it on the grounds that it was critical. Of course he’s a nationalist so that was coming!
